Our first interview for 2026 is with Marcus Fairall, Creative Director at Alchemy Gaming, a game studio part of the wider Games Global family.

Mr Fairall has two decades of experience, which has allowed him to see the evolution of online slots and game creation from multiple angles. Here's what he shared about their upcoming release, Bass Cash Monstrosity™, and the 2026 and beyond plans for Alchemy Gaming.

CW: Bass Cash™ is a series with seven games already released; can you explain to our readers as to what makes this new slot different from the previous iterations?

MF: While Bass Cash™ is a well-established series, we’re always looking for ways to keep it feeling fresh. This new instalment introduces a monster fish that plays a key part in the evolution of the series.

This fish has a whole load of personality that immediately adds something new to the player experience, and aside from looking fantastically ugly, it also plays an important mechanical role. The captivating sea creature can sweep up certain non-winning cash values into the Monster Stash, rather than letting them disappear. With each collection, the fish becomes more grotesque, adding an additional layer of intrigue to the gameplay and the potential for the fish to bite a hook and activate an epic battle of ‘Fish versus Fisherman’ where the total prize pool could be landed.

It’s a charming feature and a fun addition that expands the Bass Cash™ formula while staying true to what has defined the series so far.

CW: There are five features in Bass Cash Monstrosity™: Cash Collect, Monster Stash, Bass Cash Bonus, alongside Bonus Recharge™ and Upsizer™ (where available). Can you talk us through how each of these works?

MF: At its heart, Cash Collect remains the core mechanic of the Bass Cash™ series. Fishy cash and jackpot values can land, and when Francis the Fisherman appears, he reels those values in to be awarded to the player. There is also potential for Francis to land on both reels 1 and 5, leading to all cash values that coincide to be collected twice for some nice wins.

Monster Stash builds on that foundation by giving selected non-winning cash values the opportunity to be reintroduced to the game, where our monstrous creature, which is not to be underestimated, gobbles up the values and grows in size until they take the bait and set off an engaging battle feature that brings a fresh take to the Bass CashTM series.

The Bass Cash Bonus shifts the focus and elevates the Cash Collect feature, where Francis covers the entirety of reel 1 and players spin for cash prizes and trophy symbols. The bonus continues until any 3 of a kind trophies are collected, awarding the corresponding jackpot amount from the four available.

Bonus Recharge™ offers an additional option at the end of Free Spins to cast another line, allowing one further opportunity to collect the monster fish stash.

Finally, Upsizer™, which Alchemy Gaming originally introduced in 2021, allows Free Spins to be enhanced at the point of initiation - and in Bass Cash Monstrosity™, this includes the option to upsize to Gold Free Spins with 3 pre-collected Fisherman symbols in the Trail.

CW: The Cash Collect feature can award different jackpot prizes. From a game design perspective, how do jackpots fit into the overall structure of Bass Cash Monstrosity™?

MF: From a design perspective, jackpots are an important part of how Bass Cash Monstrosity™ is structured. Much like the fishing theme itself, there’s a clear sense of aiming for standout outcomes, and that idea is reflected throughout the mechanics.

The Cash Collect feature allows jackpots to be awarded when a collect symbol lands, whether that occurs in the base game, during free spins, or within the Bass Cash Bonus. Within the bonus feature, at least one jackpot prize is awarded, ensuring jackpots are clearly integrated into the feature design rather than sitting separately from the core gameplay.

Jackpot slots and ones that come with great max win potential are at the forefront of all Games Global and family games. The company might change its name a bit, but its policy on excellent gameplay and over-the-top rewards has always been the same.

CW: The Free Spins feature in Bass Cash Monstrosity™ includes a Free Spins Trail with multiplier mechanics. How do layered features like this contribute to the overall structure of a bonus round?

MF: Layered features like the Free Spins Trail help add depth and structure to a bonus round, and feature interaction is something we focus on closely at Alchemy Gaming. We aim to design mechanics that work together rather than feeling disconnected.

The Free Spins Trail reflects this approach, as reaching multiplier upgrade points doesn’t just increase the multiplier, it can also re-activate the feature with an additional 10 free spins. This means the bonus continues with adjusted parameters, creating a clear sense of development within the feature and giving each stage of the trail a defined purpose for a dynamic gameplay experience.

CW: Bass Cash Monstrosity™ is a departure from previous Bass Cash™ games. Is it important for Alchemy Gaming to explore variation within established series while maintaining a recognisable identity?

MF: Exploring variation within an established series is important to us, but never at the expense of recognisability. Core characters such as Winston and Francis are central to Bass Cash™ and provide cohesion across each release. At the same time, we’re always looking for ways to keep the brand feeling energised, and that sometimes means introducing carefully considered cosmetic shifts.

Bass Cash Monstrosity™ represents a quirkier, more playful visual twist while still feeling unmistakably Bass Cash™. It also naturally lends itself to seasonal moments, making it a strong thematic fit without losing the identity of the series.

CW: Why do you think the Bass Cash™ series has been an important milestone for Alchemy Gaming?

MF: The Bass Cash™ series has been an important milestone for Alchemy Gaming because each release has helped reinforce our identity as a studio. It’s a series we genuinely enjoy working on, and there is still plenty of scope to explore within it.

Visually, the characters play a key role - fishing-themed games are common, but strong, recognisable personalities give the series a distinct identity. Alongside that, the mechanics add depth beneath the surface, ensuring the gameplay remains varied across different instalments.

CW: What does 2026 hold for Alchemy Gaming?

MF: 2026 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting year for Alchemy Gaming. There’s more to come from the Bass Cash™ series, which we’re looking forward to developing further, alongside a number of new ideas currently in production.

While it’s too early to share specific details, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and we’re confident the year will showcase the breadth of what we’re working on. For now, it’s very much a case of watching this space.
