Drake, Stake, and Adin Ross face lawsuit over deceptive gambling

Drake, Adin Ross, and Stake Casino face legal actions over alleged deceptive gambling practices targeting the vulnerable.

Music icon Drake, internet personality Adin Ross, and the crypto gambling platform Stake are all in hot water!

They are caught in a high-profile lawsuit for alleged deceptive online gambling practices that target the young and vulnerable. The suit accuses the three parties of allegedly not being clear on affiliations or the risks of online gambling.

The allegations

The lawsuit filed in the Southern District of California on the 27th of October 2025 accuses Stake.com of being the mind behind a scheme that misleads users regarding the risks and realities of online gaming.

According to the suit, Drake and Adin Ross are among the key influencers who helped promote the services of the crypto casino without ever properly disclosing the nature of their affiliation or the risks involved.

The complaint is brought by a group of plaintiffs, including California resident Erik Cruz. And they claim that Stake made use of high-profile celebrity endorsements to glamorise gambling and lure users into making deposits using cryptocurrency on the platform.

The suit claims that Drake and Ross were paid tens of millions of dollars to stream their gambling sessions and share promotional content that made it seem like gambling was a fast track to wealth and excitement.

With the streams misleading players, as the influencers were allegedly gambling with house money. The plaintiffs also claim that the wins were either staged or edited to create the illusion of success. This tactic is in violation of consumer protection laws and deceptive advertising.

Stake in the hot seat

Stake.com’s business model is now under scrutiny as the crypto casino has become popular across various regions through its aggressive influencer marketing.

The lawsuit argues that Stake’s business model has been designed to bypass gambling regulations by operating in the legally grey areas.

It goes further, accusing the company of targeting underage and vulnerable users through various social media platforms like Kick and Twitch. Platforms where Adin Ross has quite a large following.

Ethical questions about celebrity involvement

Drake’s involvement with Stake is no secret, as the icon has streamed many high-stakes roulette games, posting about his wins on social media and even adding links to Stake’s platform. The relationship has its moments, and at one point, even escalated to a Drake & Stake feud!

Adin Ross, on the other hand, is popular among his viewers for his controversial online persona. He has promoted Stake extensively, most frequently by offering referral codes to his followers and sometimes even hosting gambling streams.

The claims are that neither Drake nor Ross has disclosed properly or at all their financial ties with Stake adequately, nor have they warned viewers of the risks of playing or developing a gambling addiction.

On the other hand, the plaintiffs claim that the lack of transparency creates and contributes to a misleading narrative that makes it seem safe and profitable to take part in gambling activities.

Implications for the future

Legal experts believe the case could have even more implications, ones that reach the entire sectors of online gambling, casino streaming and even influencer marketing.

If the court finds that Stake and its celebrity promoters violated laws about consumer protection, it could set a precedent mainly for how gambling platforms and influencers operate from this point forward.

One legal analyst states that this lawsuit is a wake-up call that challenges the notion that influencers can promote risky financial behaviour without accountability.

Responsible Gambling & Play Safe

Plaintiffs are seeking damages and restitution. And on top of that, they are looking for an injunction that will prevent Stake from continuing with these practices.

They are also calling for stricter regulations in terms of promoting gambling content, especially towards younger audiences. To date, Stake has not issued a formal response, and both influencers have chosen to remain silent as well.
